Ans: Humanism was the main organ of
Renaissance. During medieval period every aspect of man was influenced by the
Church. Medieval period was considered as the period of superstitions. Church
was followed blindly and people firmly believed in the activities of bishops.
People’s lives revolved around the church. Due to the influence of Church, from
the birth people start dreaming of having better place in the heaven. Medieval
people did not concentrate on temporal life. They did nothing to increase their
knowledge or worldly comforts. They simply spent time listening to bishops and
dreaming of heaven.
Humanists
believed that the study of ancient Greek literature would develop thinking,
translation, writing, arguing in courts, oratory skills, trade and diplomatic
skills of people. Schools were established to teach humanism. Humanists
explored ancient Greek literature and kept it available for common people.
Ancient Greek literature was translated from Latin to English and Italian
languages.
We can see
change in the thinking of the youth of that period, due to the publishing of
books on issues related to human beings.
However
the reading of ancient greek literature helped for the development of Humanism.
Humanism gave priority to the comforts of man over God and Religion.
