The fault in Catherine the great
reforms was, she concentrated only on upper classes. Poor were neglected by
her. She was against educating the common people. In a letter to the Governor
of Masco, Catherine wrote, “if common people become educated we both lose our authority”.
4. Catherine the great was constantly
in touch over letters with French intellectuals like Diderot, Voltaire,
etc.
5. Catherine the great had friendly
relations with Maria Theresa Queen of Austria and Frederick, King of Prussia.
Though
she was biased, and had the mindset of typical nobility, Catherine played
important role in the modernization of Russia.
