Question: Write about the course of the evolution of France as Nation State’?

            Ans: By 1500 A.D. France evolved as a strong nation state in Europe. With 100 years war (1337-1453), France successfully drove away English from France.  This incident incited national fervor among the French people.

            After 100 years war, Louis XI tried to capture western parts of Britain. As Charles the Bold, ruler of Burgundy, passed away without male heir, Louis XI captured those territories. In 1480 Anju, Provance etc. also joined in France. Charles VIII, son of Louis XI, married the Britain Prince Annie. Thus Britain also became a part of France and France evolved as a big and powerful nation state.
