9. Types of Non-Governmental Organisations
with Examples

Charitable NGOs:
Focus on relief work and welfare.
- Example: HelpAge India
(supporting elderly).
2.
Service NGOs:
Deliver specific services like education, health, sanitation.
- Example: Smile Foundation
(education for underprivileged children).
3.
Advocacy NGOs:
Influence policy and laws.
- Example: Centre for Science
and Environment (CSE) (environmental advocacy).
4.
Participatory/Grassroots NGOs: Community-based, people’s participation.
- Example: Self Employed
Women’s Association (SEWA).

International NGOs (INGOs): Operate globally with branches in different countries.
