Britain.

Ans: Frederick II is popularly known
as Frederick the great, 1740 – 1786 A.D.
He ruled the Kingdom of Prussia from 1740 until 1786, the longest reign
of any Hohenzollern king.
Frederick the great was born on 24
January 1712, in Berlin, Kingdom of Prussia.
Father: Frederick William I of Prussia
Mother : Sophia Dorothea of Hanover
Spouse: Elisabeth Christine of
Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern.
Frederick II was the greatest ruler
among the Hohenzollern kings. Hohenzollern kings considered themselves more as
soldiers than kings. With a large army he had many victories. Prussia developed
in all the fieds during his reign and became a strongest nation in the world.
“King is not an absolute monarch,
king is the first servant of the kingdom”_ Frederick the great. His words make
us clear his character. Where as Louis XII, his contemporary king of France,
with arrogance declared that “I am the state”. There was a huge difference
between both the kings.
Frederick the great foreign policy: Immediately after ascending the
throne, Frederick II captured Silesia. To retain Silesia, he had to fight 7
years war. With the help of George II of England, Frederick achieved victory.
Religious policy: Though Frederick II was a protestant, he showed tolerance
towards Catholics. He allowed the Catholics to construct their churches in
Prussia. He promised to construct Mosques to the Muslims of Turkey who wish to
live in Prussia.
